This solution comprises of the operating system, file and folder maintenance, mail messaging, database, security system, fax, printing etc. These offerings are coupled with HCL’s special tie up with ICICI banks for tailor made financing schemes for this segment. As per the tie-up the SMB customer is entitled for funding from Rs. 50,000/- onwards for financing of IT products for a period of two years, making it very easy to own & attractive for the customers.
Under HCL’s ISV initiative- LEAP,the Company provides the complete vertical specific business validated solution stack to the SMB customers. HCL together with the ISV provides the SMB customer a complete end to end segment specific solution for eg. Solution for Textiles, Manufacturing, Automobiles segments. HCL has undertaken the initiative to tie up with leading financial institutions to offer finance for purchase of PCs and offer attractive EMI based offers to customers.
PC Technology for Rural India:
> HCL has especially focused to tackle the issue of fluctuating or almost non-existent power in these regions:
-It has developed an indigenous technology called RP2, which has been developed at its HCL labs, which enables a PC to run on car battery – which can give a computer a power back-up of almost 4-6 hours.
-It has also developed the ‘pedal-powered’ based generator – which can run a PC through pedaling of a bicycle!
-It has also developed a solution based on solar power to operate PCs
> Targeted at rural education sector, HCL has also pioneered a 4-terminal PC. Pre-loaded with special software, this PC has four distinct terminals for keyboard, mouse, PCI card & USB.
> The latest addition to this wide range of products is HCL Uday, a product, which has been co-developed by Intel, yet another initiative in adopting PC technology to suit the severe operating conditions in rural India.
> ‘HCL Uday’ is empowered with several pioneering features such as single-key data recovery capability, capability to work under extreme temperature & humidity conditions, ‘Data-lock’ feature to act as security for financial institutions, which offer loans & assistance to purchase the PC and host of other standard features.
HCL products are rigorously tested to withstand the rugged and diverse weather, power & transportation conditions of the Indian rural markets. HCL also undertakes various reliability tests viz. heat & soak chamber, cold chamber, drop tests etc before shipping the products.
Providing multi-lingual PC interface:
> India is a multilingual country and considering that less than 5% of the Indian population understands English, HCL has pre-loaded all its PCs with operating systems in multilingual Indian fonts and software’s in languages like Tamil, Hindi, etc.
